To support efforts to strengthen and coordinate the regulatory framework for radiation safety and nuclear security based on international best practices, the Opening Ceremony of the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA Advisory Mission on Regulatory Infrastructure for Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security, RISS was held on 22nd June morning. Held for 5 days until the 26th of June, the event brought together international experts from the IAEA and stakeholders to assess and provide Brunei Darussalam's regulatory infrastructure, in the aspects of radiation safety and security of radioactive materials. The event was held at a hotel in Anggerek Desa.

 

This year, the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority, SHENA, hosted the RISS Mission, which functions as a benchmarking and advisory exercise conducted based on internationally recognized standards and guidelines. The event included seminars on radiation safety and security of radioactive materials, technical discussions with relevant national agencies, and visits to facilities involved in radiation safety and technical services. The mission reflects Brunei Darussalam's continued progress in strengthening national capabilities in the fields of radiation safety and nuclear security.
